December 2007 Holiday Reception On December 11, 2007 Travelers Aid Family Services hosted its Fifth Annual Holiday Reception and raised $50,000 to help support the agency's programs to end family homelessness in the Greater Boston area. This is a record high for this event. Thanks to the generosity of Mayor Menino and the City of Boston, this year’s Reception was held at the Parkman House, one of the most historic venues in the City of Boston. Once again the Mayor was the featured speaker, who gave an enthusiastic address on behalf of Travelers Aid Family Services as well as the issue of homelessness. He emphasized the need for agencies like Travelers Aid Family Services to help the growing population of homeless families re-enter permanent, affordable housing. Executive Director Richard Ring highlighted some of the agency's recent achievements including the TAFS Homes program, which is continuing to expand and provide more affordable housing for low-income, formerly homeless families.
The record breaking success of the night was thanks to the generosity of our donors and corporate sponsors: Special thanks to Mayor Menino, the City of Boston and Martignetti Companies for their additional support.
